Message: Glad to hear that you are both still having a great time. Few to many snakes in the last journal entry for my liking, but it sounds amazing, and whilst sitting in a very cloudy Uxbridge, the idea of running away to deepest darkest Africa seems very appealing!
The safari sounds amazing, and if you are burning cds of the photos that you took, they must be fab, and I can't wait to see them.
Keep travelling safely,

Message: Hey guys....what a fantastic South Island, NZ entry! I couldn't stop laughing!! I can't believe you're so jinxed! Glad none of that bad luck was following you in the Kimberley.

You probably don't want to hear that I saw hundreds of dolphins, the jet boats were running in Queenstown, it was a beautiful day in Milford Sound & I managed to get up on my heli-hike on the first attempt when I was in the South Island! Oh, but I don't have the stories to tell like you guys!!

And I think I may be able to set up our own exhibition of waterfalls...why don't we do a combined 'Sunsets & Waterfalls' exhibition? Reckon we could fill Wembley Arena with our photos together.

Message: Hi there. So pleased that you are enjoying Australia, and all it has to offer. It seems that you are long way with spotting the Oz big 5; Kangaroo, camel, Koala, wombat and tasmanian devil??

Are you drinking yet Karen? It's coming up to the Christmas season so I am hoping the answer is yes. All those wineries to visit not to mention cold vbs.

I have just got back from 10 days in Tobago which was fantastic. Can't remember a holiday when I have done so little. Lots of sleeping in the sun and reading books with an occasional snorkel thrown in for good measure. Very relaxing, and now back fully rested for the Christmas season.

Compass is going through a bit of a rocky time - do you think I jinx these places? But generally things are quite good. Doing less travel, but enough to keep me interested. Can't be bad.

Other than that not too much to report. Cledia had a baby girl - but I have a feeling that I may have told you that already. Enza is arranging a get together, but for a wider group of people. Saw Gary recently - he seems to be doing OK, after a shakey start having left UB. Steve Tucker is doing a bit of business with Compass too. Small world isn't it. Anyway enough of my dribble - keep enjoying your trip and all the adventure.

Lots of love

Jean

Message: Your tangent about waving on the wide open roads of the outback did not go unappreciated. As I was traveling in the Northern Territory and Western Aus with my friend and her dad we were constantly getting after her dad that he should wave. It was pretty comical. Somehow, we science-types failed to quantify and categorize the response rate and driver type though. Good work!

Message: Hey there. Glad to hear from you both. Begining to worry that I had somehow managed to take myself off your mailing list (As Fi and John Webster managed to!) I have really enjoyed your South American adventures, and in quiet moments start hatching a plan to get out to Bolivia and Ecuador - though if I had a serious amount of time I was thinking Chile and Argentina... So much more interesting than year end and bookings of purchasing income. Are you suffering from culture shock in Australia?

Sian is coming down this weekend to visit. Simon Adam and Marcus are coming with her. I've also got an American friend staying so I think that it might be a bit of a squash in my 2 bedroomed terrace house! She's coming down as we are going out to wish Keith a farewell - though he's been living in Milan for a few weeks now. Not sure who's going - lots of names on the distribution list that I didn't recognise.

Keep enjoying your trip, and making rainy mornings in Uxbridge that much more enjoyable with your travel updates....

Title: So much rather read your travel journal than do any work.

Posted: 23/09/2005 10:16:24
Message: Hi there. Laughed out loud at your travel journal - not at you being sea sick you understand.... Only just caught up on the Nazca lines and the Galapagos. Sorry to hear about the hep A - though once these things have got a name it always seems a bit better - and Karen you'll be able to drink long before Christmas.....

Great to hear about the Galapagos. Did I tell you that my friend's brother runs the Charles Darwin centre? It's the only name dropping I have - so I'd be amazed if I hadn't. He's over in London at the moment - I know that because I am off to hear him do a talk on Tuesday. Apparently David bellamy will be there too, so it's a night with the stars for me.

Other than that not much to report. Keith has moved to Milan now. He's coming back for a leaving party though. Rude not to. Sian said that she might come down to London for it, I think it might partly be to escape from her newborn baby for an evening! I am still hoping that they will be moving down South in the near future, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Great to hear from you both, and great to hear that you're enjoying the adventures. Really hope you feel fully recovered soon Karen. At least you'll have a tropical illness story - no trip is complete until there is one.

Take care

Jean

Although you knew this would be a year of new experiences, I bet you didn't think one of them would be having a birthday which involved no alcohol! It could have been worse, you could have been stung by a hepatitis bee, or even worse gone swimming in the hepatitis sea! Thinking of you,

Message: Hi Guys,

It sounds like you have been having the experience that you were looking for.
The sun has finally come out in London, the weather is beautifull. I am sitting at home waiting for the plumber as I have flooded the flat below. Errol is busy selling SCC as that is his only option to screw every one and still remain in control. It has been a nightmare start to finish, I want bore you with the details, but at the moment it is very unclear how it will turn out. Chem Connect has offered $1m which I am sure Errol will accept. Not sure if I can stop him, not sure how real the offer is once they do their due diligence so we may still all be around when you get back, no rush.

All the best

Daniel

Message: Andrew, Karen,
I can feel the excitement of moving on to Bolivia, and a hugely different culture. Can't tell you how much I envy you. Maybe for my next holiday....

Just got back from Canada, and am now locked in my office in denial about the number of emails I have awaiting me, and just reading the ones that I want to!

Canada was brilliant one of the best holidays that I have had. Lot of different adventures in 2and a half weeks. I feel completely rested, and hence the devil may care attitude towards the emails.

Didn't manage to see a bear though we did see a bear jam with everyone stopped to show us a bush that a bear was hiding behind (the barstard). Saw a Mountie though.

Got to go they're knocking on my door demanding I attend a meeting.... Look forward to the next installment -

Jean

Message: Karen and Andrew,
Have only just managed to get on the internet and spend some time looking at your site. It's fantastic - so much more convenient than a poste restante! I thought you were leaving on the 6th of July, and so toasted you both then, well the thought was there even if the timing wasn't. So far so good then... I hope it's living up to all your expectations and more.
I am setting off for my holidays next friday (7 days and 8 hours to go). I am off to Vancouver but hoping for more success in the whale dept than you both had.
Other than that not much to report. Still bumping into Nigel every now and then here at Compass, and still speaking to Fi on an almost daily basis! I am sure that you heard that Enza had her baby - Joseph Arthur - and I hope to meet him on Sunday.
Speak to you both soon again I'm sure.
